Post-Secondary

Please check that you have all of the prerequisites required for the program you are interested in pursuing.  You may want to contact an admissions counsellor at your post-secondary institute (PSI) to verify you have all of the course prerequisites.
You will want to check the PSI website for their specific dates for application deadlines, deadlines for reporting interim marks, entrance scholarships and when online courses must be completed.

Be sure to check the deadlines for Distance Learning (DL) courses at your Post-Secondary Institutions (PSIs).

  • PSIs will want to have your DL courses completed by a certain date   which is often well before the end of June.
  • So, you will need to plan for this to ensure that you have your courses completed with SIDES about 4 weeks prior to the deadline to allow for your courses to be finalized and reported to the Ministry in time.  It is the student's responsibility to ensure that your courses are done in time.
  • Some universities will require you to have any courses being considered for entrance into your program to be reported to the Ministry by third week of January while others are not until the middle of May.  BE SURE TO CHECK INTO THIS NOW.

If you are unsure of what to do or have any questions, please contact a SIDES counsellor.

Scholarships

A student can only qualify for scholarships in the year the student is graduating (September 1 - August 31).

Applying for Scholarships at SIDES

To qualify for scholarships at SIDES, students must:

  • have been a full time, school age student at SIDES for at least 2 years (SIDES has been your School of Record for 2 years);
  • be a resident of BC and a Canadian citizen.
  •  be graduating by the end of August, of the current school year, from SIDES.

If you qualify to apply for scholarships at SIDES, contact one of the Grade 9-12 school counsellors about the process involved.

Your School of Record (SOR) is where 50% or more of your secondary school (high school) courses have been completed in a school year.

PLEASE NOTE: If you are a student over the age of 19, and you are interested in scholarships, the scholarships offered at SIDES are for school age students only.  However, we would like to help you get started.

  • Create an account on Yconic https://yconic.com/ and build your profile.  This is a scholarship website and will search for scholarships you qualify for based on your profile.
  • You can also go to the following website Student Aid BC to search for scholarships for which you are eligible to apply.
