Prerequisite
There are no prerequisites for this course, but students should be comfortable using a digital camera and computer (or other portable device).
Description
This Photography 12 course fully meets the learning outcomes for the new BC Curriculum as well as for the Fine Arts requirement for Graduation.
This course was specifically designed to work with free, online software, and to accept images from a wide variety of cameras, from DSLRs and Mirrorless cameras to cell phones or point-and-shoots.
Online lessons include image examples and video tutorials, so students have complete control over the pace at which they learn.

Summary
Students will be assessed mainly on submitted assignments, along with two short quizzes. There is a brief interview conversation approximately half-way through the course that can be completed in-person, over the phone, or online.
Assessment
Unit 1: Five assignments (including what types of images you like and capture, how to remove distracting elements, lighting angles, close-up photographs and Elements and Principles of Design) and one quiz on image quality totalling 23%
Unit 2: Seven assignments (including Rule of thirds, Framing, Balance and Visual Weight, Repetition, Perspective and Depth, Line and Shape, Colour / Black & White) totalling 28%
Unit 3: Five assignments (including Google Slides presentation, selfie collage, combined images, portraits, and critiques), one quiz on Copyright and Creative Commons, and one interview conversation totalling 33%
Unit 4: Four assignments (including Style imitation, Advertisement creation, and Gallery Photo) totaling 16%
Materials
Students need access to:
A digital camera (could be cell phone)
A computer or portable device with internet access for viewing lessons and submitting assignments
A Google account for creating and submitting assignments
