Description
Literacy Foundations Math is a four-level program that takes students from basic whole number computation to geometry in an unintimidating manner by presenting one concept per skill book. It is excellent for those who need an immediate sense of accomplishment or suffer from math anxiety. In this course students will work on some basic skills without a calculator in level 1 and then begin to incorporate the use of calculators in the other levels.
Students will begin with an assessment test to establish the appropriate level placement. The placement test consists of skills from all levels on which students will be given an opportunity to demonstrate their current math skills. The appropriate level will then be selected.
Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to meet with staff to assess the appropriate integration into Math 9, or Apprenticeship and Workplace Mathematics 10 or Literacy Foundations Level 7.
